Unlock your potential!Job Summary and Qualifications1. Oversees Quality Management Program; directs Gamma Knife physics program.2. Is responsible for calibration and safe operations of all radiation equipment (linear accelerators, simulator, Gamma Knife, X Knife) in cooperation with Radiation Oncology physicist.3. Provides monthly spot checks, annual calibrations on radiation oncology equipment (linear accelerators, simulator, Gamma Knife) in cooperation with Radiation Oncology physicist as required by facility and NRC standards.4. Is responsible for acceptance testing, commissioning, calibration and periodic QA for therapy equipment.5. Consults on all special procedure cases (IMRT/IGRT/X-Knife, Respiratory Gating, stereotactic, prostate seed, HDR, etc).6. Attends Radiation Safety Committee meetings and recommends or initiates follow-up action as needed.7. Conducts and provides documentation of sealed source leakage tests according to NRC guidelines.8. Consults with radiation oncologists and Dosimetrists regarding treatment plans, Dosimetry calculations, design and fabrication of accessories, and clinical patient set-ups9. Consults with Dosimetrists/therapists, as well as service representatives, regarding equipment related problems and initiates corrective action.10. Provides ongoing in-service training to oncology staff and represents the hospital at community events.11. Supervision of therapy units, maintenance and is responsible for releasing the treatment machineinto clinical use after service has been performed.12. Works closely with the Medical Director(s) to administer the treatment planning and treatments of the Gamma Knife and other treatment related equipment.13. Attend department staff meetings, radiation safety committee meetings, and other meetings as necessary.14. All other assigned dutiesWhat qualifications you will need:EXPERIENCE Three to five years of work experience as a Medical and/or Radiation PhysicistEDUCATION Masters or doctorate degree (preferred)LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: American College of Radiology (Therapeutic Radiological Physics)Authorized user for Gamma Knife (preferred)CJW Medical Center is comprised of Chippenham Hospital and Johnston-Willis Hospital.
